Christmas in Bristol

The Bristol neighborhood extends into eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, and southwest Virginia and offers some of the most diverse cultural experiences available anywhere.  You will find the spirit of southern hospitality everywhere in this warm and friendly community.

MAP - Click to center During your visit to Bristol Tennessee/Virginia, one of the first things you’ll notice is that we are a twin city.  Bristol is actually two separate and distinct towns joined by the TN/VA state line.
A wide range of experiences await your enjoyment.   You can glide through the soft winter snows while skiing the North Carolina mountains.  You can wander among the 160,000 seats at the Bristol Motor Speedway, the world’s fastest half-mile.  You can explore one of the local caverns. Great Smoky Mountains
The Education and Interpretation Building Other activities will include local trips to historic Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee and the home of the National Storytelling Headquarters.  You can dance to the music at Carter Fold, home of the Carter Family and host to many country music stars, like Johnny Cash.  After all, Bristol is the official “Birthplace of Country Music

There will be time to share cultures with fellow students and family members through stories, foods, and souvenirs.  Please, bring along photos, music, clothing, recipes, or other items which represent your home culture.  We want to share your experiences with others.  During your stay, you will have the opportunity to cook a food native to your land and share it, along with other CIH students, at a church community dinner.
