Learn more about South Carolina

Iva, South Carolina

 December 18, 2007 – January 2, 2008

Iva is a small town nestled in the lush foothills of northwestern South Carolina.  The members of Good Hope Presbyterian Church want to welcome you in our homes during the Christmas season.  You will join other International Students for two weeks of fun and fellowship with Good Hope members and others in the Iva, Starr, and Anderson communities.  You will participate in many fun activities while in Iva such as attending local sporting events,  horseback riding, tours of the new World of Coca Cola and the Georgia Aquarium and an overnight stay in the mountains of North Carolina. Your evenings will include several parties and nights full of fun and games where you can sing and dance the night away or play air hockey, ping pong, and board games.  We are especially looking forward to International Family night in which you will be invited to prepare your favorite dish or meal from your country to share with all of the host families.  Bring your favorite recipes, costumes, pictures and other things of interest from your home country to share.

While you are visiting Iva, your transportation, meals and entrance fees on group excursions will be provided at no cost to you.  There is an optional day trip to Atlanta, Georgia where the transportation cost will be $40 per person.  The temperatures range between 33-55 degrees Fahrenheit with a mean temperature of 44 degrees during the Christmas season.  Cold rainy days are possible, so bring appropriate rain gear.  You will also need warm clothing for being outdoors.

There is nothing that compares to the wonderful Southern Hospitality that you will receive at the Good Hope Presbyterian Church.  We hope that you will join us this Christmas season and enjoy the fellowship and friendliness of our people.  We look forward to meeting you and making lifelong friendships.
