New York Programs

Welcome to Webster in northwestern New York which is located along the mid-southern shores of Lake Ontario about an hour from Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls. We are a suburb of Rochester, New York which is in the Northeastern area of New York State and can be visited on their web at RochesterNewYork.org. We are 90 minutes flying time to LaGuardia airport in NYC and over 2 hours by train. Your destination would be the Rochester, New York for the airport, train depot or bus depot.

St. Rita Church in Webster sponsors the CIH program and last year was our first year. The group activities we had were: ice skating, visiting museums, mall shopping, attending an Amerk’s Hockey game, a dinner at church and a day trip to Niagara Falls. This is a home stay program with families with or without children and some group activities. The program has some funding for the activities. If you like skiing but would be an extra expense for the student (up to $150).

Due to the distance we do not include a trip to New York City (however we do take a day trip to Niagara Falls) in our plans but if you do please plan it before or after the Dec. 18 through Jan. 1^st program dates.

Dress is very casual but you will need to bring warm clothes, perhaps clothes you can layer like sweaters and turtlenecks. Weather can be cold, snow and you would need warm jackets, hats, scarf and gloves.
