Shore Mennonite Church
Shipshewana, IN

Shore Mennonite Church invites you to celebrate the holidays with them in Shipshewana December 18th – January 2nd!

Shipshewana is in the midst of a large settlement of “Old Order Amish” people who live a unique lifestyle: Horse-drawn buggies for transportation instead of an automobile, no electricity for appliances or lighting in homes, plain clothing that they sew themselves, etc.  You will not be living in Amish homes.

You will be living with host families from our church and other churches in our area  You will be able to experience the culture of our community through various activities which include visiting an Amish school, quilt making at Shore Mennonite, tour of a dairy farm, Christmas caroling and a sleigh ride, a visit to Notre Dame campus, an Amish supper, a buggy ride, and a livestock auction just to mention a few.

While you are visiting Shipshewana, your transportation, meals and entrance fees or group excursions will be provided at no cost to you.  You will want to have some spending money, though.

Shipshewana is located in Northern Indiana, therefore temperatures can be quite cold (0 – 30 deg F) so coats, hats and gloves are needed.  There will most likely be ice and snow so warm socks and boots or heavy shoes are recommended.

If you plan on arriving by airplane, please fly into Ft. Wayne or South Bend (we prefer South Bend), Indiana.  Greyhound buses and Amtrak arrive in Elkhart, Indiana.  Please do not make travel arrangements until you have been place into our program.

Hopefully you will be able to enjoy a white Christmas with us!
