Wilmette is a suburb just north of Chicago (about 12 miles from downtown) on Lake Michigan.  First Presbyterian Church will welcome you in our homes and share the joy of Christmas with our families.  Although your time with us will be mostly spent with your host family, there is plenty of opportunity to visit the wonderful city of Chicago and the Art Institute, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Goodman Theater, Chicago Bulls Basketball team, Navy Pier, the Shedd Aquarium, Second City Comedy Group, Sears Tower, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Northwestern University, the Magnificent Mile, University of Chicago, Baha’i Temple, Jazz and Blues Clubs to name just a few destinations (entrance fees up to $50.00).

Since this is the first year our church is to be host, we are hosting only a couple of International Students.  The weather is cold (mean of 24 F) and windy with snow a definite possibility at this time of year.  Public transportation into Chicago is extensive, with two train stations in Wilmette, one for commuter train and one for the subway (known as the EL for elevated), as well as a regional bus station.  The closest airport is O’Hare but Midway is also close and is served by the subway ($1.75 per ride per person).

We hope that you will come and enjoy our hospitality and the fellowship and friendliness of our people.  We are eager to meet and show you the wonderful Chicagoland area.
