Moultrie, Georgia

Moultrie, Georgia is a small southern town about 40 miles north of Florida. While we do not have the cultural facilities of a metropolitan area, we do have friend people who will welcome you. Weather in Moultrie during December is unpredictable: average temperatures would be in the upper 40’s at night and upper 60’s in the day, but temperatures can be 20 degrees warmer or colder (low 20’s to highs in 80’s) though not for long. Most years it is pleasant enough to be outside wearing a sweater or even shirtsleeves midday, but people should bring both short-sleeves and a winter jacket. It may rain, but snow is very rare- a once a decade event that melts within hours. Camellias will be in bloom. For those living in the north, our usually pleasant weather is a plus.

Those staying in Moultrie will be living with families while here. WE have not planned formal outings, and much will depend on the desires of those who come.  Most activities will be family-oriented. The program is small. We would welcome one family with children.

We are 60 miles from the airport in Tallahassee (TLH), Florida and 45 miles from airports at Valdosta (VLD) or Albany, GA (ABY-caution-do not get ticket to Albany, NY), and 20 miles from I-75 if driving. If a family has a car and wants to make an excursion on their own, we are 75 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and about a 5 hour drive from Disney World. There should be no extra costs in Moultrie.
