Cleveland, GA
Dear Friends;
We would be greatly honored to have you come visit us in the North Georgia mountains of Cleveland. We are a small town located two hours northeast of Atlanta. Our church, First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland Georgia, always looks forward to meeting new friends.
If you choose to come to Cleveland, you will stay in two homes (one per week). During your visit to our area, you will see two local historic tourist towns; (1) Dahlonega (where gold was first discovered in America) and (2) Helen (which is fashioned after a Bavarian Alpine town). Outdoor hiking trips will be planned if weather permits. We have several National Forests, numerous waterfalls and the Southern end of the Appalachian Trail is within close proximity. Activities that you decide to do include sightseeing, horseback riding, view lights of Lanierland, tour Babyland General Hospital (where Cabbage Patch Dolls were first made), roller skating, and a day trip to Atlanta, depending on what you would be interested in seeing. You will be dined and entertained in various homes. We would like for you to participate in an ‘International Night’ at our church, where you could cook a dish traditional to your culture and tell us about your country. Most important, we want to get to know you and help you have a memorable Christmas in Georgia.
Our closest airports are Atlanta, Georgia and Greenville, South Carolina. Train stations and bus stations are also in Atlanta and even closer in Toccoa, Georgia. Our weather tends to be cold in late December (30-50 degrees F) so bring clothes to stay warm. Our program dates are December 19 through January 2. We are somewhat flexible if these dates need to be changed for you.
If you desire want to make some lasting American friendships and experience a taste of real Southern Hospitality, then Cleveland, Georgia is one of the places to visit. We look forward to the pleasure of your company.
