Mount Dora  is located in the beautiful lake and hill country of Central Florida, 27 miles northeast of Orlando (which is where the airport is located).  It has been called ‘the friendliest small town in Florida’.  It  boasts numerous antique shops and unique restaurants.  You will enjoy seeing our spectacular Christmas lights that decorate the downtown area for the holidays.  You will be joining other international students for 2 weeks of local holiday activities.

  Daytime temperatures in winter vary from 50 degrees to 70 degrees so outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, picnicking, bicycling, even swimming are offered.  It is suggested that you bring some warmer clothing, as some evenings can be quite cool.

  If you desire to go to some of the attractions such as the Kennedy Space Center, Disney, Sea World or Universal Studios entrance fees are approximately $60.00 daily for each park.  We will host an International evening to which you will be invited and asked to prepare your favorite dish from your country to share with all of the other students and host families.  Please bring recipes, native costumes, pictures and other interesting items from your country.  If you have a musical instrument or talent to entertain, we would welcome that also.

  While you are visiting in private homes in Mount Dora, your meals and transportation will be provided for you, other expenses will be up to you to cover.  We hope that you will come and share in our friendly Southern hospitality.  We are eager to meet you and show you our area.
