Melbourne and Palm Bay are located in Brevard County, on the east coast of Central Florida.  The Atlanta Ocean, and Florida beaches are just across the Indian River.  The Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd, in Melbourne, Florida invites International Students to join us December 16, 2007 to January 2, 2008 for a family style Christmas visit and New Year Celebration.

The Kennedy Space Center, with its visitor complex is just north of us.  A special day is planned to allow you to visit the Space Center.  Approximate cost for admission is $40.  An optional trip to the Orlando Theme Parks can be arranged if enough of you are interested. (Please bring about $100 to cover the cost of admission and lunch at a theme park, if interested.)  In addition to traditional Christmas church services and activities, there will be a lot of time to relax by the water, fish on the river, get out to the beach and maybe even visit world famous Ron Jon’s Surf Shop.

You are encouraged to bring along your favorite recipe from home as we will gather for an international dinner that will highlight your home country as well as those countries represented by other international students and some of our church members as well.

Typical December weather in Central Florida ranges from the mid 50’s to upper 70’ds F with lots of sunshine!  Bring your warm weather gear and plenty of sunscreen since such wonderful weather invites all kinds of outdoor activities.  (It is suggested that you also bring some warmer clothing as some evenings may be quite cool).  The nearest airport is Melbourne International (MLB) and is only a 15 minute drive away.  Orlando International is only an hour and a half away.

While you are visiting in private homes in the Melbourne and Palm Bay area, your meals and transportation will be provided for you.  Other expenses and souvenirs will be up to you to cover.  We sincerely hope that you will come and share these holidays with us.
