REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Christmas International House registration information is now available over the internet.  Visit our Web site at http://www.christmasih.org/ for complete program information and the CIH Application form.

APPLICATION FORM

1.                   Check each application form to be sure the students has entered all data and enclosed the registration fee.  Incomplete forms will be returned and may cause the student to ‘miss out’ on his or her first choice of locations.  Medical insurance is MANDATORY for placement in a CIH program.  If the student does not currently have health insurance coverage, encourage students to obtain a short term policy since they cannot participate in a program without Medical coverage.   Applications must be completed on-line  and printed (or typed).  Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

2.                   Stamped advisor signatures are not acceptable.  Advisors must sign the application form.  We have had problems in the past with unauthorized people participating in some of our programs.  Please emboss the application with the university seal if available.

3.                   All students are required to attach a copy of their student identification card with photo or their present class schedule.  We are requesting this information to help us verify that all individuals applying to CIH are students and currently enrolled at a university or college.  A picture ID is desirable.

4.                   IMPORTANT:  Read the student commitment statement at the bottom of the application with the student and be certain they understand what it says.  Many students are using CIH as a bed and breakfast or a stopover en route to another location or have plans to meet up with friends, boyfriends and girlfriends.  If the student signs the application statement, they are committed to participate in activities and stay the entire length of the program.  If this is not the student’s intent, they should not apply to CIH.

5.                   Caution students NOT to make travel reservations until they have been accepted into a program.  They are risking losing their money if we cannot place them.  They should, though, check costs to their desired choices to confirm that they are affordable.  Desired arrival and departure times are between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.  Please also note on the particular program information on our website, possible additional fees that may be needed for tourist sites.

6.                    Please make a copy of your student’s completed application.  This is very helpful if the CIH registrars need to ask questions about one of your students.

7.        Students should arrive and depart as close to the program beginning and ending dates as possible.  Host families are NOT responsible for housing students before the specified arrival date or after the specified departure date.

STUDENT PLACEMENT

1.                  After a student has been placed in a program, it is essential that he/she return the confirmation card enclosed in the Program Host’s welcoming letter immediately, even if he/she will not be able to attend.  If the students plans to attend, he/she can send travel details later.  The host program needs to know the students intention to participate as soon as possible.  Please remind your students to send the confirmation card promptly.

2.                  Please discourage the students from changing their minds after they have been placed.  We do not have the time or resources to ‘Rearrange’ everybody.  Application fees are not refunded if a student is placed and then cancels.  Host families are very disappointed if the student cancels after they have been accepted.  They make special plans and arrangements to make the student’s visit as fun as possible.

3.                   All applications will be processed on an equal basis.  Please do not ask the registrars for special placement of your students.

PHONE CALLS

We encourage you to call the registration office during business hours with any general questions about the program, but we may not give you  information about the placement of your students before November 22.   They will hear from us directly as soon as they are placed.
